Implementation of Training (Phase-I)
Based on the proposal to AKRSP, from Oct 16th to 25th, Star Farm consultants’ team started the Phase-I project. The main objective of phase-I was to determine the status of the Baltistan farmers of apple growers farm base under the aspect of sustainability, certification with focus on quality and food safety management system, environmental, occupational safety and social aspects and market linkages. The activities in Phase-I include training of farms base, visits to packing units, assessment of growers, and product handling workshop. The standard is referred to GLOBAL GAP and defined in proposal and the situation of system integration is focused and highlighted in Phase-I investigation and implementation.Generally, the quality management system foundation is not in a good order, the environmental and occupational management are found partly implemented but need be improved by a systematic method. On the farm base, more work needs to be done to establish a good foundation. No doubt Gilgit Baltistan Province has a lot of unexplored potential.
